Travelling with your Pet
Pets in the cabin
Important: Pets in the cabin service is no longer available on Air Canada, and has been entirely discontinued as of September 18, 2006.
Only certified, professionally-trained service animals assisting customers with disabilities will continue to be carried, free of charge, in the passenger cabin at the customer's feet provided they have a registered training certificate. For EXCEPTIONS to this, please see Government Regulations table, below.
Pet birds may not travel on Air Canada, either in the cabin or checked as live cargo.
Pets cannot travel on our CRJ and CR7 aircraft between November 1 and March 31, or any time the outside temperature is below zero celsius, and large and extra-large kennels cannot be carried on Dash 8 or CRJ/CR7 aircraft. In addition, pets whose owners are flying on Air Canada's Embraer planes can only be accomodated in cargo between April 1st and October 31st, and when external temperatures are suitable.
You can now purchase an Air Canada-approved kennel online delivered to your doorstep so that your pet may travel in safety and comfort. It's fast and convenient! Purchase must be made at least 72 hours prior to travel. Air Canada-approved kennels are now available from North America, The United Kingdom, and Germany.
